If you’re importing toilet seals into the US or Canada, NSF cert isn’t optional for big retailers. Home Depot, Lowe’s, Ferguson — they all require it. Period.
I learned this 15 years ago. 10,000 wax rings rejected by a retail partner because the NSF paperwork had the wrong facility address. Not the product — the paperwork. Three weeks in a warehouse sorting it out. Nightmare.
How to verify: A real NSF manufacturer has a listing number. Type it into nsf.org and it shows exactly what’s certified. If your supplier sends a PDF cert but no listing number, it’s fake. I’ve seen this multiple times.
What happens without it: Customs flags your shipment. Or worse — it reaches shelves, gets caught in a random audit, recall happens, your retail partner never calls again.
